Mehndi Decor

We hosted our Haldi & Mehndi events at home, and we wanted to do some DIY decor to be on the budget-friendly side. Here are a few tips & recommendations from our experience!

Get lots of fake flowers

We bought a lot of fake flowers from Etsy (shop: VillageWomenSkill), and then used them to deck out the whole house! Here are some ideas for how to use the flowers creatively:

1. Make a Ganesha wall using hot glue! This is great for your Ganesh puja and also makes a beautiful backdrop for photos.

2. Decorate the bride & groom's seating area for the Haldi and/or Mehndi. We covered a swing where we sat for our Haldi ceremony.

3. Use the flowers to add a festive photo-booth for you and your guests to take pictures throughout the event!

Colorful linens

We used colorful tablecloths & chair sashes to liven up the backyard for serving lunch!

Get fun signage and props

Our guests loved taking pictures at our photo booth with desi-themed props (Etsy shop: TriyaDigitalDesigns)

Some of our favorite props were "Team Dulha" & "Team Dulhan," "Auntie Squad," and "I'm just here for the samosas"!

We also purchased creative desi-themed signs from the same Etsy shop, which matched our decor and added to the festive look!

Transform with string lights at night

We bought lots of string lights from Amazon and hung them along the perimeter of our backyard and house. When the sun set, the string lights totally transformed the vibe to give it a romantic ambiance!
